What to Expect from a Professional Lice Treatment (Step-by-Step)
A professional service focuses on two things: confirming lice the right way and removing every bug and nit with a meticulous, pesticide-free strand-by-strand comb-out. Most families are cleared in one visit, then receive a simple plan and a phone follow-up—no harsh chemicals or clinic rechecks.
Step-by-step: your appointment flow
1) Discreet arrival & setup
We arrive in an unmarked vehicle (or our private salon bus) and set up a clean, lighted station in a quiet spot at home. Expect a bright task light, fresh towels, sectioning clips, and sterile stainless nit combs. We review any school/team requirements so you leave with the right documentation.
Time: 5–10 minutes
We have revolutionized the lice removal process by eliminating the use of hair salons... We come to you in either our unmarked bougie salon bus, or directly to your home in a private vehicle!
2) Confirmation head check
We arrive in an unmarked vehicle (or our private salon bus) and set up a clean, lighted station in a quiet spot at home. Expect a bright task light, fresh towels, sectioning clips, and sterile stainless nit combs. We review any school/team requirements so you leave with the right documentation.
Time: 5–10 minutes
3) Pesticide-free comb-out (the main event)
This is the gold standard. Hair is sectioned into small, manageable parts. Starting at the scalp, the tech pulls the nit comb from scalp to ends in smooth strokes, wiping the comb after every pass to verify removal. The rhythm is: section → comb → wipe → inspect.
- Uses a small amount of kid-safe product for slip and visibility
- Removes both live lice and nits (what chemicals usually miss)
- Gentle on sensitive scalps and safe for toddlers to adults
Time: Typically 45–75 minutes depending on hair length/density and level of activity
4) Magnified re-check
Once all sections are cleared, we do a magnified inspection to catch anything stubborn—especially at hot spots (nape and behind the ears). This final pass is why most clients are one-and-done.
Time: 5–15 minutes
6) Follow-up (no in-person rechecks)
We do a quick phone/video check-in at day 5–7 and show you a 60-second self-check so you’re confident the case is closed. If anything looks off, you’ve got a direct line to your tech.
How long does it take?
- Most single-person treatments take 60–90 minutes. Siblings or very dense/long hair can add time. Screening a group (siblings, sleepover friends, teams) is efficient—30–60 checks/hour per tech—and we treat positives on the spot.
What you should (and shouldn’t) clean
- Do: Dryer on high heat 20–30 minutes for pillowcases, hats/hoodies, favorite plush items; soak brushes/combs in hot water or 70% alcohol; quick vacuum of today’s sofas/car seats.
- Don’t: Whole-house deep cleans, foggers, bagging toys for weeks. Lice don’t live long off the scalp.

FAQ'S
Does it hurt?
No. The comb has rounded tips and we use gentle slip so it glides through. Tender scalps are handled slowly and carefully.
Will the lice come back?
A precise comb-out plus your prevention steps keeps cases closed. If your child is re-exposed (sleepover, shared headgear), we’ll show you quick self-checks to catch it early.
Do you treat everyone in the house?
We screen first and only treat those who need it. That saves time and cost and prevents over-treating.
Is it safe for toddlers, pregnant people, or sensitive skin?
Yes. We use pesticide-free methods and gentle products.
